Reports of my death have been greatly exagerated

Ever since I got this job, for some reason my desire to post on LJ has been on the wane. It's true, soemtimes I'll go and post 4-5 things in a row some nights, but that used to be an everyday thing. Now I sort of feel like letting things collect in my head and meanwhile, rather than posting about life, I'm going out and, well, doing stuff, which is certainly for the best, I think.

This weekend was loads of fun - highlights below:

Saturday I rented a Flexcar all day and made maximum use of it, with me doing the intown-driving, Caleb doing the trip to and from Roswell. The boys and I went for breakfast and shopping at Star Provisions and then Caleb and I went shopping over on Moreland Avenue, which wasn't nearly the horrible driving experience I thought it would be. I even managed to park the car in *one* shot! Meanwhile I had Harpua duty, so in addition to walking her at like 7 in the morning, I walked her around 1 before PigStock and then twice that night. PigStock was fantastic -- dozens of guinea pigs, cute as could be, good potluck picnic food, and a silent auction that landed me with a 30 lb. bag of hay. On the way home Caleb and I went to the Pike Nursery up there, which had some lovely stuff. Back home again, the boys and I went for dinner at Spoon and then watched Lake Placid 2, a really (typically) terrible Sci Fi Channel Saturday night movie.

Sunday morning I got up early for Harpua again, then fell asleep for an hour before I had to get up and read the two stories we were going over at the Outworlders writing group. Took the dog out before going to group, which was nice because we had a new person and two interesting stories to discuss. Afterward I got a ride home and planned to do something or other but actually just fell asleep for a couple hours. Fortunately David woke me up with a phone call, asking if I'd had dinner. I hadn't, so I took the train over to his place, where he plied me with drinnks, fabulous vintage reference books, and a wonderful Thai/German fusion that was basically Thai spaetzel. We went up on the roof at one point and generally sat around talking 'til 9 or 10. And then Whitney dropped by with a surprise check for taking care of the dog!

This week offers some things to look forward to: going to the East Atlanta Village Farmer's Market Thursday, volunteer work Saturday morning helping to paint a senior's house, Outworlders Game Night Saturday night. Friday isn't planned yet, but I bet something will come up.
