lack o' style and various conference ramblings

random comment on that conference i was just at.

in contrast to previous conferences i've been to, like web design or usability or adobe, thing seemed to primarily focus on developers, not designers. found this annoying. also found it made peoplewatching way more boring, as there was almost zero eye candy. i mean, everybody knows the designers are the funky dressers, right? darn, no goths, no thrift shop clothes (well, except mine), no good dye jobs, costume jewelry, hardly even any funky glasses. sigh. maybe this is a result of the change in our industry, like designers losing jobs or going independent (and thus not being able to afford said conference), designers not bothering with conference... who knows. just kind a of a bummer.

at least i held up my end of the bargain. i was miss funkiness and naturally miss chestiness as well, or so i was informed by the many eyes on me, esp. last night at universal studios, where i ended up dancing. actually that was where i started to get hit up by this DWEEB from kansas city named (gah!) christian whose pick-up line was "um, if you don't mind my asking, how tall are you?" lol, that is like SO fifth grade!

ramble ramble ramble...

sorry everyone, may take a couple days before i become coherent again.

(no subject)

masochist that i am, i clicked on a link cnn.com had to halloween safety tips. now i think there are some reasonable no-brainer things that make sense but hello the caution "avoid using candles in pumpkins; use small battery operating lights instead" irritates me no end. i mean, out of the hundreds of thousands or millions of jack o'lanterns in history ever lit with candles, how many cases have there been of one of them, say, lighting a kid on fire? i mean, at least i assume that's the danger here? and what about the "no masks, just hypoallergenic facepaint advice"? i mean, what, hundreds of kids a year are suffocating? lol, i think back to my mom dressing me up like a bag of jellybeans (clear plastic bag filled with baloons) and imagine that mihgt have broken a few rules -- i could've choked and died! aaargh, sorry, folks, child safety stuff drives me up the friggin' wall. at least this one didn't include the razor-in-the-candy warning :/{

God works in mysterious ways

Got one of those "Could you give me tips on becoming a web designer?" emails while I was out. Last night I offered an initial response and now, sigh, I seem to be in correspondence withs someone whose email is allgoodwithgod @ charter.net and whose web site is www.ashley4jesus.com. Something tells me this woman did not spend very long looking at my web sites before she wrote me...

CDs this years -- from nothing to a glut

Inspired my almostnever's mixer CD post and some hankerings to do this anyway, I'm going to try and compile a list of all the CDs I've hauled home in the past year (approximate). The vast bulk of these were purchased since this spring, since for many months prior to that I couldn't buy any CDs or engage in a lot of other previously normal expenses. Finally the financial issue was (thoroughly) resolved and HURRAY it was CD time!
