The 4-question fandom survey

Everybody's doin' it, so why not me too?

The challenge: Using fandoms you've been into, pick characters and pick which one you've...

Identified with?
Lusted over?
Hated or were thoroughly annoyed by?
Adored in a platonic sense?

The idea is to pick different characters to each one.

Bumps on the road to computer literacy

Got this email from my mom, who's retired but still does some work part time at the Katharine Gibbs School of Business in Boston:

I saw a lady at work today putting a credit card into her floppy drive and pulling it out very quickly. I inquired as to what she was doing and she said she was shopping on the Internet, and they asked for a credit card number, so she was using the ATM "thingy"

LOL, that's as bad as the CD "cupholder" joke... but I swear this came direct from my mom...

Like Buddy Holly sang, Love Me, Love Me, Love Me...

Wah. Nobody laughed at my mom's email. At least not so that I could hear it. The only response I've got is from Caleb, who said Mom should send that in to Reader's Digest. Sigh. Not feelin' the love this week... and yeah, that is my needy side crying out for attention... Wah!

Meantime, some random bits covering this last few days...

  • Wrote a really cool autobiographical story Friday night in *exactly* one hour. I was thrilled with it. Mercredi was moved by it.
  • Went to a new coffee/deli place Saturday and it was nice, which was (forgive me please, just saying the truth) surprising given that it's owned by Korean immigrants, whose shops tend to all have pretty much the same decor and offerings -- this was really nice and stylin' with friendly staff even.
  • The Dumb & Dumber 2 filming in my building this weekend was just CRAZY! It was a virtual WAR EXERCISE here. The entire lobby became a natural history museum, with exhibit spaces, dinosaur skeleons, giant dinosaur topiary, big sculpture, the security desk became the ticket counter, there was a gift shop, signs... Then outside there was a school bus, but only the first 10 feet of it, and the corner restaurant had turned into a seaside place. There were trucks and cables and crewmembers EVERYWHERE. Saturday night they had the corner of Walton & Broad lit up with giant football-stadium type lights to make it like daytime until like 10:30 p.m. It wasn't until this morning that they finally finished clearning out.
  • Got stuff organized for my business, just like I promised myself. Did a lot of filing, then started up my client database, which I didn't finish but did get going on. I've got to finish that this week.
  • Sunday night, went over malibran's for his housewarming, which was fun with yummy food and people, he he. He has this awesome DVD of 80s videos, which of course kept me mesmerized. Then there was some really bad gay porn we watched (listening to CDs, not the actual soundtrack). I had on my 1930s German schoolteacher outfit. At one point I had the idea to go fetch my bizarro Bulgarian porn over at my place so I ran out, managing to slam my finger in the door (ouch and damn if it doesn't still hurt). Too bad I couldn't find the video. Went back and watched more porn, he he. We all went up to the roof to check out the view in the freezing cold. I went home around 11:45 in part to keep myself away from all the snacks... esp. the green chips.
  • Worked at home today doing my CAP contract work. Nothing exciting, just doing news updates and fixing links to PDFs so they show download time. It was pretty mindless yet pays the bills.
  • Had nasty cramps all day, not doubt related to being on this medical treatment for my "issues" -- ugh, just felt achey and pukey most of the day.
  • Made French dinner with roasted vegies and a scallion & zucchini soup. Soup was a bit odd because it had a lot of fennel in it, but I liked it. Caleb had it but was too sick with more spider bits to enjoy it.
  • A follow up on that abortion posting of mine from early, covering the Supreme Court: http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/01/20/scotus.abortion.ap/index.html

That is all.
