Friday Five: Other places & lives

Friday Five, www.fridayfive.org

1. If you had the chance to meet someone you've never met, from the past or present, who would it be?

Michelangelo. He wasn't supposed to be a very pleasant guy but I would like to meet him and see that he was in fact human, since his art seems beyond human capability.

2. If you had to live in a different century, past or future, which would it be?

Put me back in the 20th century and I'd be fine. This century has been rough so far.

I don't want to live in a future century and it'd unlikely I'll get the chance; in fact I rather hope I don't.

As for the past, for all I am interested in history, unless I could control the circumstances (my gender, class, location, etc.), I wouldn't just jump the chance to go back. Like OK, maybe Florence in the 1400s would be nice but on the other hand, if I'm spending my life eating slop living with my 15 kids and hubby in shabby shanty, not like I could go appreciate the culture, eh?

3. If you had to move anywhere else on Earth, where would it be?

Hmmm, *had* to? Or want to? I in fact do want to move and have for a while. I am going to be indecisive and say...

I've had my eye on Albany, NY for some time
Chicago also would kick butt
Move back to Massachusetts (assuming somebody is paying for my housing)
Germany or England

4. If you had to be a fictional character, who would it be?

Cobweb from Wraeththu (well, once Terzian is out of the picture). I'd be beautiful, have magic powers, get to have magical sex, have a sweet son, live in a pretty house, not have to work...

5. If you had to live with having someone else's face as your own for the rest of your life, whose would it be?

Great Garbo's. As if there is any other possible acceptable option!

Friday afternoon

Today is going pretty well. This is especially true considering yesterday I was at wit's end almost and up really late.

When I got up though, it was actually sunny out and even if I do enjoy rain and fog, the sun did something to me and made me all "sunny." Got my coffee free at Blue Cloud today (did them a favor), chatted with a Fulton Co. librarian there reading the paper before work, then had a nifty walk, started my reread of Inward Revolution.

I had an actual good attitude towards work this morning and came to an actual "OK, this is phase is done" moment with our intranet, which was nice after slogging along on it for a couple of weeks. Oh, and spurred on by seeing Raj at work using his, I finally ending my months and months of procrastination and ordered my PalmPilot (Palm was offering free keyboard with purchase of the model I wanted), which is already on its way so I soooooooon start writing AWAY FROM MY FRIGGIN' OFFICES!

Feeling accomplished after that, went off to lunch, intending to go one place but then, when I saw it was once again open for lunch, going to this place Ami I really love. They had their al fresco area open and thus I was able to have a nice outdoor lunch with their super extra yummy sweet tea and a wonderful crab salad sandwich. I was thinking how the other people here can barely be bothered to go to a bad sub place, let alone a French sit-down place with cloth table clothes. Doesn't make any sense to me seeing as they all are paid quite a bit more than me, but then again, they don't read so I guess appreciation of food and wanting some nice lunches sometimes goes with that.

After lunch I went up to CVS and the store had all been faced and restocked so it was like a demo store almost, plus they had some good sales. They sell plus-sized tights now, which is great since Macy's is closed and nobody else except mall stores sell them. When you are 6'0" and no toothpick, plus is a must!

Rest of the day has been nice. I found some stuff to do on the web site. The only sucky thing is that I'm having an icky allergy reaction from being outside with all the trees and stuff. Since it's been raining all week, I stopped my Allegra. Why bother with pricey meds when the pollen count is down?

Tonight I hope to... Well, have a nice night I guess. I want to relax. Maybe go read in the park or something.
