$17.08 = A Lot of Fruits & Vegies

I am lucky enough to be within walking distance of Atlanta's municipal market. I've been going there for five years but recently I've started going there a lot more often, every Monday after I've finished my consulting work at CAP.

My two destinations are Salumeria Taggiasca and a Korean-run fresh fruits and vegies stand, which just came in a couple of months ago and is superior to any of the other fruits and vegies stands there, in terms of service, organization and PRICE. Hello, check out what I got for a grand total of $17.08:

  • 2 greenb peppers
  • 2 red bell peppers (normally like 99 cents each in supermarket, right?)
  • 2 large zucchini
  • 3 tomatoes
  • bunch of green onions / leeks
  • 1/2 lb. mushrooms
  • large ginger root
  • 2 bunches of grapes
  • 2 lbs. carrots
  • 3 lbs. onions
  • 5 lbs. potatoes

Not too shabby! After that deal, I went over to Bess at the Italian market and lucky me, turned out they'd had a pasta tasting Saturday and had a ton left over that was going to get tossed, so I got a whole tray of homemade porcini ravioli for free. I also got my olive oil and canned tomotoes I planned on, but boy, that pasta was a surprise. When I got home I cooked it for Caleb with a walnut pesto I made. Yummmmm!

Ooh! Fan Mail!

Got actual mail from Inception. It gets plenty appreciated by the fandom but I don't get too many random emails. This one's not even from a Storm fan, but somebody who loves Satyricon and had something to say about my review of it. I like how he makes comparisons for each character...

Meanwhile, the student's friend (wonderfully played by the Italian Jim Morrison looking actor) thinks that life is nothing more than a surreal laugh. I also liked the Minotaur who looked like some modern Croatian basketball player, but with a brain. The most powerful moment in the film for me is after the old philosopher dies (and is eaten), the young philosopher has an opportunity to join up with a group of hippies (one of whom looks quite a bit like Jimmi Hendrix). Instead he chooses his own path of self-determination.

Viva Saytircon! Also Roma... most notable for its tres bizarro seriously freaky Papal Fashion Show.
