One hiccup

Well, I have to say I am overall pretty wowed by the Palm but I did run into a hiccup. After I'd played with it for a couple of hours, testing the synchronization, WordToGo software, configuring it, etc., it was charged up and so I took it over to my keyboard. It didn't work. So they I went and made sure to get the keyboard software driver on it and I did, but still it didn't work. When I put it in the slot it gives me an error or it ignores the keyboard altogether. I've written Palm support :( This keyboard came free. It was refurbished. I wonder if that's why it won't work. A lot of time refurbished will be fine but who knows, could be flukey.

If I have to get a new one, that's OK since I didn't pay but it means I'll have to wait to experience the true joy of writing... away. I really think I'm going to hole up at the Marriott Marquis this weekend and write some fantasy. That place is soooooo weird -- wish I had a pic to show everyone. Let me just say, it's where they have Dragon*Con every year and it *so* fits!

Friday Five: Special Moments

I think the theme of this week's Friday Five is special moments or something. Rather Halmark but I was in the mood for it.

1. What was your most memorable moment from the last week?

My supervisor coming in after having had a car accident and then, all upset about that, blurting out that (after 3-4 years of trying and praying) she's actually 11 weeks pregnant.

2. What one person touched your life this week?

Storm. She and I had a chat last night and she really makes me have faith in myself and the world.

3. How have you helped someone this week?

I helped Caleb deal with all the fretful angst he was having prior to his trip.

4. What one thing do you need to get done by this time next week?

Prepare my business income/expense spreadsheets and organize absolutely everything so when Caleb gets back from Germany, he can do my taxes.

5. What one thing will you do over the next seven days to make your world a better place?

Weave a web of energy exchanges through positive interactions with those around me. This is one of the things Storm and I chatted about last night. I have noticed that lately, my own generosity and genuine good will has been earning me returns everywhere I go and it's like there is a web of light I'm weaving. Sure, I will do some specific things, esp. updating community web sites and sending out news to people, but at the moment the RL web seems to be a place for me as well.

Fixed

Palm emailed me back and I got the keyboard to work. I wrote a rather silly one paragraph story on it and it seems very easy to use.

The Promise

Darn, this song is so nice... And it has nice smooth high 80s boy voices on it too :)

I'm sorry, but I'm just thinking of the right words to say.
I know they don't sound the way I planned them to be.
But if you'll wait around awhile, I'll make you fall for me,
I promise you, I promise you I will.

But I haven't had rhubarb in years!

Actually we used to grow it in the yard. The best plants grew on the compost heap. Mom would make strawberry rhubarb pie or, heck, just the gloopy stuff and we'd eat it. Yum!

I am such a dyke sometimes, well half the time anyway

No really, this tall, strapping (and stacked) female police officer, in uniform, just came into my office looking for help and after I helped her (ice for somebody injured) was I like DAMN! Funny, funny, funny... It is SO 15 minutes to go on a Friday! And I SO wish there were more female police officers.

Lost Arts

Today I was thinking about a skill I used to have and it led to to consider what skills I used to have that I no longer do or at least never practice anymore. Based on that, here's a little review, which could easily be copied by anyone should they so desire:
