Friday Five: Waking Up

(courtesy of fridayfive.org)

1. What time do you wake up on weekday mornings?

7:10... Though on week's like this one, where I keep going to bed around 1:15, I set the alarm to 7:30 (wow, another 20 minutes!)

2. Do you sleep in on the weekends? How late?

Not really. I normally can't sleep past 8. Saturday morning I have things to do anyway, like Wraeththu chat and neighborhood coffee. Sunday I try to sleep in but it's rare I sleep past 9. It's esp. impossible in summer -- just too sunny out and my birds start singing.

3. Aside from waking up, what is the first thing you do in the morning?

Bitch and moan.

4. How long does it take to get ready for your day?

An hour. I could be much faster but I *hate* mornings, don't want to go to work.

5. When possible, what is your favorite place to go for breakfast?

Highland Bakery, owned by my neighbor John. I've been there a few times, never for breakfast, but they have a lot of wonderful breakfasty things. The best bagels and cinnamon rolls...

Either that or I like breakfast at Storm's house in England :)

My Achey Breaky Everything

So what, if anything, is the link between lack of sleep and feeling like you've been involved in a bar brawl and lost? I wake up feeling absolutely pummeled. I usually feel OK by the end of the workday, but between 9 p.m. and noon I am one big groan.

Tonight, assuming Caleb and Daniel don't keep me up with goodbyes, doing their laundry, and whatever, I am going to be diving into bed at like 10. Then I will sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.

Fire

One of my fav antique malls in Atlanta was just gutted in a huge fire. DAMN! Those poor businesses! Their stock isn't at all replacable. One place was very high end, the other place wasn't so much but it was this big dealer place specializing in 20th century stuff, a ton of modern, ton of 1950s china sets, TVs... All the dealers had individual booths with their best stuff. Probably it's all melted. Waaaaaaaaaaaaah ;(

Jack Sparrow / Keith Richards

LOL, a follow up from Roger Ebert on his PotC review where he said Johnny Depp seemed to be a channeling a drunken drag queen:

(From his Movie Answer Man column)

Q. I saw "Pirates" over the weekend and loved it. I read your review and noted that you said it seemed as though Johnny Depp was "channeling a drunken drag queen." It seemed to me he was channeling the Rolling Stones' Keith Richards, from the accent and eyeliner, right down to the trinkets hanging from his hair. Is it possible Depp used Richards as the model for Jack Sparrow? Has he given any interviews saying such?

J.M. DePaul, Lewiston, Idaho

A. It happens that he has. David Geyer of Wheeling, W.V., supplies me with this Depp quote from the Boston Globe: "Keith Richards has been a hero forever and ever. It wasn't an imitation. It was more kind of a salute to him." Apologies to Keith Richards for confusing him with a drunken drag queen, and vice versa.

LOL
