The Chosen & Standing Dead

So I finished up my Ricardo Pinto reading this week, plowing through both The Chosen and The Standing Dead. Bravo, bravo, I say!

I plan on doing a review for Inception but in the meantime, I found a couple of reviews on the SF Site that do a great job of sharing the wonder of these two books. Both reviews cover both books to some degree. One bit of **WARNING** is that if you don't want any spoilers... well, avoid reading.

For a more spoiler-free review, here are some for the first book, The Chosen:

Also, here is an outstanding interview with Ricardo:

My Friend Frodo

Caleb is going out for Halloween as Frodo and today he went and bought / borrowed components for his costume. He's a bit unconfident about it, but I definitely think people will know who he is (note The Ring around his neck) or at least know he's a Hobbit. I give it a 10!

Anyway, since I know there are those of you out there who are experts at Frodo and Hobbits... Comments?

The mystery for tonight is:

Who the HELL is blasting Abba's "Dancing Queen" outside? I have been hearing snatching of music all night that sounded sort of Asian or sort of... something, but there was a movie on and now I hear it's Abba? I'm tempted to take the elevator down and investigate. It seems very close by but I can't see anything on the street or deck. I wonder if my neighbor above or below is having a party with the windows open?????

More England

Well, I wrote most of this account at work this week, but because I was so busy training my new employee, I didn't get to finish it all until now.
