Dust, begone!

Every day I'm here at my parents', the itchier I get. It has to be the dust, and thus the dustmites, which it's established I'm allergic to. And my parents house is *so* dusty in places, always has been. My skin is just crawling all the time. Ewwww.

Of course, I tell this to my mom and she gives me this look like I'm making this up, then tonight admitted she thinks I'm a hypochondriac. "After all, you grew up here and never had any problems." Aaargh -- the reason I *have* this allergy is problem I was bit by so many millions of dustmites growing up I developed an allergy!

Not to mention I am pretty positive I've had all these allergies since at least adolescence but simply never recognized them because my parents don't believe in allergies. (Seriously, they don't... they think allergies are something wussy people make up to describe "discomfort" or cover for being fussy eaters.) Anyway, I kind of want to wash all my bedding and see if it helps, no matter what Mom says.

Friday Five: The Year

While waiting for dinner to be done, and hiding from family for a few minutes...

1. What was your biggest accomplishment this year?
Breeding Discontent, which was co-written with madame_mercredi, was published! Second biggest accomplishment would be ditching my job.

2. What was your biggest disappointment?
Hmmm. This was a really good year, so I'm not too disappointed. I suppose maybe I'm disappointed I gained 15-20 pounds after growing too fond of English food... :)

3. What do you hope the new year brings?
Lots and lots contracts for Metro Girl!

4. Will you be making any New Year's resolutions? If yes, what will they be?
No "Resolutions," but my ENTIRE LIFE is going to change, as I'm going to be self-employed working from home, and along with that will come a lot of life change. Included in that is diet and exercise changes, increasing the time I spend on Reiki and rituals, and of course I'm resolved to finish my next novel.

5. What are your plans for New Year's Eve?
No idea. I'd love to go to Boston for First Night but my parents can't/won't go (for Dad, way too cold and too much walking) and since I don't drive, can't get there myself, not even just driving to an Orange Line station. (Actually I *can* drive, but since I haven't done it in 5-6, doing it at 1 a.m. on I-93 is not something I'd even dream of doing.) So I guess I'll be stuck here with my parents. If I'm lucky we can go to the movies.
