Guinea Pig Day

I am too tired to write much at all about today -- I'll do that tomorrow -- but meantime, here are two poems from Caleb that sum up my new guinea pigs nicely :)

Cuys are cute.
The like to squeel and pop.
They are so full of love.
I do like them a lot.

Full of love, full of love.
Cuys are so full of love.
One for you? Yes, me too.
Even though they eat their pooh

* Caleb prefs to call them cuys, the Spanish term.

BTW, yes, pictures will be taken/posted tomorrow of BIG Abbie and LITTLE YinYang.

I just sneezed so long, so hard, and so many times in a row (not that unusual for me), that I made the insides of my computer monitor make a sound like a tuning fork. Man, I bet Georgia Tech and Emory could do some kind of joint study on the physics and medical issues of all that.

This word is INCONVENIENT... let's just DELETE it!

This evolution thing continues.

Also, this letter from a professor at UGA appeared:

My response to the proposed state school standards omitting evolution is simple: As head of advising for the biology major at the University of Georgia, I will recommend that we not give advance placement credit for college-level introductory biology, regardless of test score, to students who take biology in Georgia high schools.

A student who wants to be a science teacher or go to medical, dental or other graduate school will have to retake intro biology here.

Evolution is simply too important for all of modern biology to omit it at the whim of religious zealots, most of whom know nothing about biology but are only too happy to spout off about it.

Palevitz, of Athens, is a professor of plant biology.

Piggy Pics

Yeah, got that camera going this morning :)

I wish I could post more about this but I am not feeling so hot. For some reason, have been REALLY tired this week, kind of a I-don't-care-let's-go-back-to-bed type attitude.

I feel like such shit... Like I'm Cal in Bewitchments when Cobweb curses him. I wonder if there's an evil Tarot card under my pillow or something.

Friday Five: Million Dollars

You have just won one million dollars:

1. Who do you call first?
Caleb (cracicotus).

2. What is the first thing you buy for yourself?
Plane tickets.

3. What is the first thing you buy for someone else?
Dinner. (Caleb and Daniel would probably expect free dinners forever or something.)

4. Do you give any away? If yes, to whom?
Yes, to worthy causes I support, some local, some national. I tend to donate to organizations involved with either historic preservation, the arts, or transit/pedestrian issues.

5. Do you invest any? If so, how?
I really suck at investment, but probably would get advice from Caleb and buy urban real estate, to be developed into mixed-use, nice bungaloes or townhouses.

Super Sunday

I just realized, Sunday will be the PERFECT day to see LotR: RotK again. I'm going to time it so I see it RIGHT when the SuperBowl is on!

Hmmm, plotting... I see it's still playing at Phipps in Buckhead, which means I could see it and then go to Target. Rather go there than Backlot, as it has better theaters. It'll be so awesome, they'll be nobody out except people who don't care about sports or who don't have husbands, boyfriends or friends coercing them into being at home, at a bar, etc. I could really do with seeing that a third time :)

Well, looks like I have finally made Mat Man happy -- he likes the first complete mat product page, which will be the template for all the rest of them... so I'll have to make like 50 of them, complete with the swatches!

On the upside, I just calculated my business spending / income for this month, and even with it being slow at the start and me making some larger purchases (account software), expenses were about 36% of income, which to me sounds not bad at all. Sunday I'm going to pay myself! Wheeeeeeeeeeeee!
