If you want a look at complete and utter madness...

Look at this product page for Mat Man and all the SWATCHES -- oh, and look, when you click, enlargements pop up. This is just one example -- there are many products.. many swatches... Ugh. All I can say is that my work for the State of Georgia (where I had to do stuff like produce a mini web site for each of the state's 159 counties) has prepared me well to face any kind of mind-numbing drudgery.

*Yawn*

I really wonder what it is I do in my sleep that makes me feel so awful when I wake up. Is there anybody who wakes up refreshed? I wake up feeling like somebody's had me hog-tied all night with my head in a plastic bag while being driven around all night in the back of an unpadded pickup truck. I used to go out wilderness camping a couple weeks each year and I felt better in those day when I'd sleep on roots and rocks! My brain has also been overly muddled for a couple of weeks now :( I am going to experiment this week and see if it's simply the fact I'm only sleeping 6 1/2 hours a night. I keep staying up 'til 2, for absolutely no reason, so I'm going to try and cut that out.

Help with newsgroups?

Does anyone know of a way (besides Google) I can both read and post to newsgroups? My old broadband provider was set up for that but the new one doesn't support newsgroups. They told it would be easy to get access from some other providers. I have found a couple that are great in that they offer just about any newsgroup out there, but they won't let me post. I really miss having newsreader access; Google is just too slow and you can't track your posts. Newsgroups are invaluable to me for their info on pets, SF/fantasy and computer stuff and it drives me nuts I can't access them the way I used to.

Keeping the clients happy

So last night I was able to send Mat Man links to SIX completed product pages. I figure might as well give him that rather than forcing him to weight for all ten. Well, this was a good move because he called this morning so happy to see them done and PLUS, he really likes them. He's going to send me all kinds of edits but I'm not worried about that, as edits are way easier than creating stuff the first time. Now the next challenge is to do the remaining for products by the time I meet with him on Thursday. Should not be much of a problem, assuming I can inject some discipline into my habits -- being so tired isn't helping me lately.

Awake!

Just called the vet. Abbie is coming out of the anethesia and while woozy, is standing up. Her next move will probably be to eat everything in sight. I won't be picking her up until 4, as they want her all the way awake before I take her.

Say Cheese!

Last week I was bad and broke my "no cheese" diet pledge. I just couldn't take it anymore, so I bought Tomino and buffala mozzarella and then this stuff I had never seen before, Aglino (or Aglio). Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, it is so good. I don't put it on bread even, I just eat it. OMG. No losing weight this week, I guess!

A Mystery Pic

Somebody whose email neither Caleb and I recognize emailed a rather amusing (if slightly embarrssing) picture of me to Caleb's work email. I can definitely say it's me, but I don't recognize the location.

I can tell it's from sometime in the last year or so, since I'm wearing my orange polka dot tights (from Germany, Sept. 2002) and a mini skirt I havent had for more than a year or so, but as to the circumstances of it being taken... No clue.

And then I wonder why somebody would send it to Caleb with filename "lookwhatifound" at his WORK address, which they must have had to have gotten through their company web site, since he only uses that email for work. Must be somebody who knows Caleb, or his name, but doens't know him well enough to have his personal email.

Anyway, for the curious Collapse )

I mean... WTF?

Safe and Sound

Yay, Abbie is home!

I left here for the vet's around 3:15 and aside from having to wait 15 minutes for the bus once I'd taken the train to Decatur, it was a pretty quick trip and basically the bus goes almost right to the office.

Once I got there I was sent into the little treatment room right away. The doctor who performed the surgery came in and was very nice, telling me what he'd found once they opened up and saying everything would be OK. He gave me a bottle of some antibiotics he says are "guinea pig's favorite." I thought he was being facetious but actually piggies actually come to like the stuff -- tastes good, I guess -- and will get all excited when they hear the bottle cap, plus they'll suck it out of the syringe! The doctor brought Abbie in and demonstated how to administer the meds (you just pump it bit by bit into her mouth); looks very easy and Abbie wasn't making any faces or fighting it, so it can't be too bad. He showed me where they did the work and poor Abbie has about a 1"x"1 square on her chin/neck where the fur's been shaved and she has something like a 1" incision with stitches down the middle. Doctor says they took special care with making a big cut with lot of "breathing room" so hopefully we won't get another abcess.

After that I packed Abbie into the carrier and after checking out, walked on over to the nearest bus stop. From there, we had a nicely smooth ride on bus and train home. Abbie was running around in the carrier for a lot of the way, eating up all the hay I'd put in there yesterday. She was hunnnnngry!

Right now I've got her in the playpen with her own food, water and box. The doctor said there's no real reason she needs to be isolated except he wants me to be sure she's eating and pooping and if I let her alone for a day, I'll be able to verify. Actually at the moment I've got Chipmunk in there visitng with her since I thought it might get her up and eating and more lively -- which proved true. Earlier they were squishing together in the dry milk box and presently they're fighting over hay, so all is well.

Abbie thanks everybody for their good wishes :)
