Off to Charleston

Well, I'm off to Charleston for the weekend, wheeeeeeeeeeeee! Daniel and Caleb and I leave Friday morning; the ride takes around 5 hours, Caleb said. We've got a darn fancy hotel we're staying at. I'm bringing my bathing suit so I can swim in the pool. I think it's Saturday that we're actually seeing the one Spoleto festival event we have tickets for, an opera. I'm really looking forward to seeing all the architecture. That's the main draw for me, seeing the urban form. (Which is why I don't have any interest in beach vacations or going to the tropics.) Oh, and seafood or... really shrimppppp.... ymmmm.....

I shall return with pictures, I promise!

Piggy Ingenuity

Since I'll be gone 'til Sunday night, I've set up my pets with all kinds of extra food. In the case of the guinea pigs, I've feeding them double on fresh vegies before I leave, putting out two big bowls of dry food, 2 alfalfa cubes, a full rack of hay and then for extra measure, a special hay holder I made out of a Nordstrom bag. For the extra feeder, I took a small, glossy white paper bag and cut out a rectangle at the bottom of one side, tied the bag to the side of the cage, and filled the bag with hay. I figured the piggies would just eat out the bottom of it. Somehow I didn't anticipate that they'd both decide (separetely) to *climb in* the bag and treat it like some kind of ultimate piggy nest. D'oh!
