I almost wish I had TiVo or something...

...but maybe I can somehow get a transcript.

What for? The RNC of course! Last night sounds totally surreal...

Two quotes from Mrs. Bush (taken from story):

But she deviated from what she described as compassion policies to resurrect tenets of Monday's message, which focused on courage. She said she wanted "to talk about the issue that I believe is most important for my own daughters, for all our families, and for our future: George's work to protect our country and defeat terror so that all children can grow up in a more peaceful world."

"Marriage between a man and a woman isn't something Republicans invented, but it is something Republicans will defend," she said. "We believe in a culture that respects all life ... the frail elderly, the infirm and those not yet born. Protecting life isn't something Republicans invented. But it is something Republicans will defend."

.................Grrrr, what a bunch of total liars.

Oh, really????

Saw cob_web had done this one. As much as you can call any of these things accurate, I'd say this one is accurate on me -- I'm a sensible vampire whose a good friend! LOL

You are Form 9, Vampire: The Undying.

"And The Vampire was all that remained on the blood drowned creation. She attempted to regrow life from the dead. But as she was about to give the breath of life, she was consumed in the flame of The Phoenix and the cycle began again."

Some examples of the Vampire Form are Hades (Greek) and Isis (Egyptian). The Vampire is associated with the concept of death, the number 9, and the element of fire. Her sign is the eclipsed moon.

As a member of Form 9, you are a very realistic individual. You may be a little idealistic, but you are very grounded and down to earth. You realize that not everything lasts, but you savor every minute of the good times. While you may sometimes find yourself lonely, you have strong ties with people that will never be broken. Vampires are the best friends to have because they are sensible.

Pink Slip Protest Line

This is such a great concept for a protest!

Thousands Form Symbolic Unemployment Line in N.Y.

housands of demonstrators formed a symbolic unemployment line in Manhattan today, standing silently along the sidewalk in a column that stretched for miles to protest what they called the high rate of joblessness during the term of President Bush.

Holding up pink slips of paper symbolizing the notices employees sometimes receive when their jobs have been terminated, the demonstrators held a line from Wall Street in Manhattan's downtown and stretched north about three miles to the midtown area where the Republican National Convention is in its third day today at Madison Square Garden.

"The Next Pink Slip Might Be Yours!" the fliers read.

"I've been unemployed before," Gary Goff, 57, a data processor, said to The Associated Press. "I'm concerned that unemployment is going up so drastically under the Bush administration. I think Bush is a disaster for working people."

The demonstration was organized by People for the American Way, a nonprofit group based in Washington that advocates for institutions that sustain a diverse and democratic society.

The group said in a statement today that 5,000 people participated in what it called "The World's Longest Unemployment Line" representing "the 1.2 million jobs lost over all since March 2001 and the more than 8 million Americans who are currently unemployed."

Whether you believe the economy is the administration's fault or not, the protest concept here is great -- visual, easy to do, large-scale, even cheap!

I freely admit that I like to cultivate a certain image in terms of how I dress. Or, I should say, I enjoy cultivating multiple images, putting them on and taking them off like costumery in a play.

Anyway, today on the bus ride home from the allergist, I was cultivating what I suppose could be termed the "serious and sober" image: plain black suide shoes, black and white dress, black cardigan sweater, black leather (60s camera case) purse, hair short and slicked close to the head, studious vintage 50s glasses, no makeup and lips pressed tightly together in a rather serious line. Oh, and finally: open book clasped tightly between my two hands, balanced on my tightly-pressed-together knees.

I supposed I was "asking for it" when the man sitting next to me spoke up and said, "Excuse me, are you studying for the ministry?"

LOL! When I said no, he asked if I was studying medicine. I said no to that too and said (rather lamely) that "I just like to read a lot."

Of course I was simply covering the fact that the book I was reading wasn't a theology text or a medical textbook -- it was A History of Orgies!

I can understand where the guy got the wrong idea though. I'm very good with my image.

Gathering of the tribes update

Well, so far so good.

Around 6:45 tonight gabby2600 called me from Philadelphia, where he & the gang have a stopover, and they're all on track for their flight to Atlanta tonight. Paul Cashman and I are fetching them.

Meanwhile this morning Anne Sudworth rang me up. She's having trouble getting her hotel phone to call England (despite all kinds of attempts and help from hotel). The GOOD news that the hotel received all her paintings, prints and books so she'll all set to have a kick-ass exhibit in the art show.

Hopefully all goes well with madame_mercredi, vaysh and everybody else coming into Atlanta tomorrow and Friday. I can't wait to see you all!
