I wanna go hide

I feel really depressed and overwhelmed. I don't know where to start with the 150 emails and clients and picking up and phone calls. Also discovered I missed paying my credit card bill 'cause it was due Tuesday and I was a bit pre-occupied. Guinea pigs have made their cage super stinky as well. Shit.

Perl help?!

If there's anybody out there who could help me troubleshoot a Perl program I'm trying to set up................. PLEASE help me! I've been stuck with this stupid 500 error on and on and on, no matter what I do. I just started over from scratch and even went and changed a bunch of variables using a "diagose" script on my server, but I can't get beyond the error. I'm totally exhausted and hysterical, but the client wants this thing done NOW :( There's a for-pay intallation service I can get for this, but it's $50 and might not be done by today. I hate paying for install when I can normally do things myself.

*crying*

No idea how anyone even COULD help me with this but crap, I feel the need to plead. I'm SO angry I can't install this thing.

Iraqi deaths

I found this AP article buried in my local paper:

Iraqi deaths top 10,000
Some say toll may be 30,000
Bassem Mroue and Hamza Hendawi - Associated Press
Thursday, September 9, 2004

Baghdad, Iraq --- At Sheik Omar Clinic, a big book records 10,363 violent deaths in Baghdad and nearby towns since the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq last year.

While America mourns the deaths of more than 1,000 of its sons and daughters in the Iraq campaign, private estimates of the number of Iraqis killed since the war began in March 2003 range from 10,000 to 30,000...

In other news, I can't still get this stupid Perl script to run. Gah! Why is it that scripts are either super, super easy to install or damn near impossible?!

D'oh!

Well, found out why my script doesn't work: Earthlink has such an old version of Perl that the script can't run. So even if I pay for support, it won't work. My solution? I'm going to install it on my own account. Shouldn't matter to the client, though I'll test that theory out. At least now I'm reasonably sure it wasn't ME preventing this from working!

ADDENDUM
Installed script on my own account. Took 10 minutes to set up, now it's done and running. *hits head on desk* There goes like 5 hours of effort I made in vain.

I love Dan

I was too busy to notice last week, but Dan Savage posted another round of reader letters on childhood sexual misconceptions -- this time from the girls POV!

HiLARious!

Of course one thing these stories remind me of is the very glaring fact my mom and dad and I NEVER EVER had "the talk" or discussed sex in any way at all. I gather my mom completely trusted in the fact I'd find that information on my own through reading or health education classes or watching TV.
