Pot usage in college towns?

Another "duh!" headline from CNN and the media in general:

College towns lead in marijuana use
For marijuana, 5.1 percent of people around the country reported using marijuana in the previous 30 days. In Boston, the home of Boston University, Boston College, Northeastern and several other colleges, 12.2 percent reported using marijuana in the previous 30 days.

I personally would like to know the usage levels in Amherst, Mass. Even today, I can smell it about a mile away and I always think, "Man, smells just like UMass Amherst!" There was a whole part of campus called Central, very popular with hippy types as well as other types of stoners, that would smell like it all the time. Those marijuana leaf flags were always flapping out the windows.

Battle over gay marriage in Massachusetts goes on

Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney is still at it, battling against gay marriage.

From the Boston Globe:

Romney backs new effort to prohibit gay marriages
Governor Mitt Romney yesterday endorsed a grass-roots effort to pass a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage in Massachusetts in 2008, abandoning his support for what he called a ''muddied" compromise measure that would also ban gay marriages but allow gays to enter into civil unions.

Because everybody knows that over a year after gay marriage became legal in the Commonwealth, things have gone to hell in a handbasket. It makes me so angry that this man and his allies think they can just shove everybody back into their boxes and take away those hard-won rights. I don't think people will go back.

Dork Meme

Ganked from just about everybody...

List 5 reasons why you are a dork. And make them good reasons. Justify them. Explain them. Be loud and proud about how big of a dork you are!

1. As a teenager, I used to go off and play in the sand pits in the woods behind my house and have pretend conversations with T.E. Lawrence (a.k.a. Lawrence of Arabia). I also had a box of Arab desert gear costume stuff for using at home in my bedroom.

2. I always used to read almanacs for fun; now I check Wikipedia daily for featured articles and look up facts and figures all the time just for fun.

3. As a teenager, my biggest celebrity crush was Buster Keaton, a silent movie comedian who died in the mid-60s.

4. I usually wear cotton granny underwear. Cotton is the healthiest kind of underwear and I like the waist to go all the way up because otherwise I can weird panty lines on my stomach. (At least I no longer tuck my shirts into my undies!)

5. I get very excited looking at transit maps for other cities and can amuse myself for quite some time using "trip planners" on transit web sites, like the DC Metro, Deutsche Bahn, etc.
