Apes will be gone

I know LJ is just full of happy news right now, but...

Apes 'extinct in a generation'
Some of the great apes - chimps, gorillas, and orangutans - could be extinct in the wild within a human generation, a new assessment concludes.

In related news, a full analysis of the chimpanzee's genome shows they share 99% of our active genetic material. I've often thought that driving a species to extinction IS genocide, but in this case, the analogy is even closer.

(The one this that bothers me from this story is the bit about taking the brand new homeless shelter Downtown and giving it over to refugees. Excuse me, but there are like 10,000 homeless people in Atlanta and that shelter took a lot of effort and was just opened FOR THEM. I'm sure the people at that center have resources and expertise to share, but I don't think they should give over beds.)

You scored as Stuart. You are Stuart, partner and co-parent with bi-dyke Sparrow. You believe that values need to be backed up with action, which can make you a bit impulsive at times. Make sure to budget time and money in order to afford the winter-length utili-kilts and Air America Radio shirts you've had your eyes on.
