So now that it's 1:30 a.m. and I've had a plate of crackers w/pesto and a bowl of popcorn to eat, I feel a lot better. Not very good timing though.
Last night I stayed up 'til about 2:30 reading, then couldn't sleep in my bed: hot, anxious and jittery. For a little while I was worried I had a fever. Then for some reason I got inspired to sleep on the floor of the living room. I laid out a comforter on the rug and for a coverlet, just a sheet. I was soooo hot, it felt great. Then I put on this Unquiet Void CD I use for Reiki and did a little Reiki lying under the covers. I tried sleeping on the floor but wound up meditating well but finding it a bit too uncomfortable. So I wound up sleeping on the couch. Today I woke up feeling much, much better. I think I slept a lot better than usual. On the sofa?
Goal for today: Keep a clear head and get work done.
I have a client who expects me to do math. Ut oh! He wants a special price calculator, which I might be able to come up with... or not. But first I have to create a "model" of the calculations, i.e.:
width x length = area
area x $/sq. ft = item cost
item cost x quantity = total
I'm installing my Macromedia programs right now. It is such a pain in the ass because while upgrading saves money over full versions, have to install versions 2, 3, 4, MX and MX 2004 just to get to the latest version is quite a pain and takes up unnnecessary disk space. On the other hand, do I want to spend like $1200 for the latest full suite? Not really, especially when I still need to get an Adobe suite.
Day is going well -- except my main email account is non-operational. All messages to it are going into some kind of black hole. My ISP's tech support just redid my inbox but it still doesn't work. Email, where are thou?
Update @ 3:30 p.m.: Email is back and I got all my backlogged stuff.
You know, Windows XP is some crazy shit! Today I had a few more bizarre set-backs in the world of Laptop Set-up, but at least I now realize what caused the horror that was yesterday. I think I should have read some instructions on XP set-up before plunging in, because if I had, I would have saved myself a lot of trouble. Anyway, I *think* things are right now, with correct users, Outlook and SpamKiller running, bookmarks done, about 90% of my software set up. The main thing now is importing the data and a couple of programs like QuickBooks and Money and I'll be good to go.
I know, computer updates are so exiting. I promise there is a piggy post coming up soon.
