GA Gay Marriage Ban Struck Down

I can't be very optimistic about this state, now that it's more than ever run by conservative Baptist Republican half-wits, but this is some good news:

Judge Strikes Down Ga. Ban on Gay Marriage
By GREG BLUESTEIN
Associated Press Writer

ATLANTA — A judge has struck down Georgia's ban on same-sex marriages, saying a ballot measure overwhelmingly approved by voters in 2004 violated a provision of the state constitution.

Yay!

Flooding in MA -- Yikes!

My mom sent out more flood pictures (from the Globe web site) and info today and WOW, is it flooooooded up there in the Merrimac Valley. It's hard to even leave town at this point because a lot of the roads, including highway on/off ramps, bridges, local roads, etc., are under water. From the pictures it looks like all of Shawsheen Village, a neighborhood on the north end of town where my grandmother lived, is completely under water (see this pic here, eeep!). And then there's this picture I found on Boston.com, a reader-submitted pic taken about 1/2-mile from my parents' house.

Kids boating down Woburn St., like 10 min. walk from where I grew up.
Bizarre. Never ever saw it THAT bad!

The house is going to be fine, since the area shown is low-lying and my parents live up a very large hill.
