*Marblehead Trivia

OK, for the heck of it, some bits of trivia:

  • Used to be part of neighborhoring Salem.
  • Hit economic peak just prior to the American Revolution, thus all the old buildings.
  • Site of founding of forerunner to U.S. Navy.
  • Says Wikipedia: "The town has a total area of 50.8 km² (19.6 mi²). 11.7 km² (4.5 mi²) of it is land and 39.1 km² (15.1 mi²) of it is water." Says I: Kind of unfair, including harbor in the area, huh? LOL.
  • H.P. Lovecraft based "Kingsport" on Marblehead.
  • Marblehead's streets are really confusing: See Google Maps. My mom, who is really great keeping things straight, got lost.

Velcro Cat

Luckie has been underfoot ever since I got back yesterday. She won't stop following me / running ahead of me wherever I go! I get the feeling she's attention starved... don't know WHERE that feeling come from, LOL. She's here right now glaring at me: "Look at me! Hey! Look! Play!" She'll be in my lap any second now...

Edit: Yup, she jumped straight from the floor to my laptop, then my shoulder, the desk, the bookcase, back to me. Now she's attacking some mailing envelopes for no apparent reason. She's a bit hyper at the moment.

Man..........

From the Huffington Post:

Air Force One Costs Taxpayers More Than $60K An Hour...
Posted on May 30, 2006 at 11:51 AM.

In 2004, before fuel prices skyrocketed, the Air Force estimated that it cost $56,800 per hour to operate Air Force One. Which means that President Bush's quick 22-minute flight from Philadelphia back home to Washington last week probably cost taxpayers about $30,000, give or take a thousand.

That's... a lot. They should invest in inventing a ST transporter for him and just beam him. It'd be cheaper. Shit, that one flight (let alone an hour or several) is more than many Americans make a year.

*boggles*

I'm not even going to think about the decifit right now.
