This afternoon I did something unprecedented: Picked up and cleaned the main room while it was just messy, not a total disaster. I put a lot of effort into cleaning it last week and by yesterday it had started the slide towards chaos, which usually accelerates from tidy to trashed in about two days. This time I was actually pro-active!
I've noticed that over the past couple of days, I've been walking around smiling for no reason except I'm feeling kind of jaunty.
Got a letter from the company I'm working with on the city's greenspace project and apparently my fee for the entire project, with an estimate of hourly maintenance work, totals like $9000. I had forgotten what an ambitious (for me) estimate I'd put in on that job when I put it together months ago. I don't think I've ever had a fee that high and darn if I didn't also get an email a couple of days ago asking me for an invoice, since I'd asked for a 50 percent deposit on the majority of fees. I get that money, I'm sitting pretty.
Still have all those Greta Garbo movies to watch!
I've been on a bit of an eBay buying spree, but without spending a lot. I've been buying quilt squares from this one seller and consistently I keep getting like 40-60 squares for 99 cents plus shipping. I'm trying to get around 300 squares, since that's what I needed for the last quilt. I've also been out looking for German textbooks and multimedia stuff and after hunting, found a copy of the way cool textbook used in my high school German classes. It'll be so 80s and retro to see it again.
The Method products I bought work great. The grapefruit all purpose cleaner spray is particularly good. It smells nice and cleans.
There are almost no flies left in the house. I killed them all using traps baited with soy milk and guinea pig poop, since I noticed that was what they seemed to be going for -- not actual fruit but more like rotting stuff. It was totally gross but it worked!
