Playing with fake food

I love watching Luckie amuse herself. Lately she's been having a lot of fun with toy mice. Instead of just rounding them up under the piano, which she still does in the end, she's been dragging things out, throwing the mice into a pile of shoes, onto the couch, under the food and water dish rack, etc., specifically so she can stalk them and/or fish them out. And then when she gets bored, I throw the mice across the room somewhere and watch her bat it around for 15 minutes. I'm going to the pet store tomorrow to get hay and some other pet stuff and she is so getting another packet of toy mice.

From thefridayfive - Objects

This one is from the archives...

1. What is the oldest object in the room with you?

Without digging into every nook and cranny, I'd guess that iron hand on my desk, which I have no date for. It could be 19th century. The desk itself is 20s or 30s, an tiger oak office desk.

2. What is the newest?

Store receipts I guess. Or -- geek alert -- the cache file on my browser, if that's considered an "object."

3. What is your favorite object in the room with you?

Luckie's in here, but OK, if she's not an object and I can't choose computer files... hmmm... it might be the iron hand. I just LIKE it!

4. What is the most valuable object?

This computer.

5. What is the ugliest object?

This room is a total disaster at the moment so it's hard to say, but I guess the air purifier. Why are things like that almost always designed UGLY?

Bargains at Sal's Boutique

So this morning I dropped off a load of stuff at Salvation Army and was handed a flyer about how today is the store's grand re-opening after a renovation and of course the blow-out sale. I biked off to breakfast and shop at Star Provisions, possibly the *opposite* of Salvation Army, and then went back to check out the sale. I think I did *very* well -- 6-7 pieces of clothing, 2 bone china serving plates, 2 muffin tins, 2 pie pans, 2 cassettes (Violent Femmes & Andrew Sisters), and a picture frame... for the grand total of $19. Everything was 25, 50 or 75 off. I think the T-shirts I bought were like 40 cents each. For $3 or something I also got an absolutely *horrid* black, red and purple dress from the 80s, with shoulder pads and a look that reminds me of Star Trek, that I had to get because... well, somebody has to wear it. I mean, I saw it and said, "No they DIDN'T." Yay!

And, no, I don't boycott Salvation Army, so don't lecture me on it. I hardly boycott anyone, except a couple of places (stores and countries) that really REALLY bother me.

Look, boss, the pain, the pain

Ow ow ow. I've had four different headaches today... or maybe it's one continuous one that keeps going up and down in volume. Ug. Just took some aspirin in hopes it will do something. I feel kind of nauseous with this one. And I have to say, this Violent Femmes tape is not really too soothing. I should put on Morrissey.
