From thefridayfive - Stress

1. How do you deal with stress?
I tense up every muscle in my body and hang on for dear life! Next, I think I tend to shrug of responsibilities, opting to ignore more messes than I can deal with at once. Once I've fixed a bunch of things, I'll turn to something else. And finally, I usually end up writing, blogging, and playing inane computer games like Bookworm, online crosswords, etc.

2. Do you have a favorite "comfort food" and what is it?
Everything is comfort food, isn't it? He he. Hmmm. Well, in terms of things I eat or drink at times of stress, I think tea is up there, along with chocolate, strong mints and licorice.

3. Do you have a "comfort activity" and what is it?
Lying on the couch watching Animal Planet in a half-doze.

4. What days depress you and why?
No particular holidays or bad anniversaries.

5. What days excite you and why?
Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, my birthday, Dragon*Con (Labor Day weekend), Caleb and my anniversary (day we met), any day it rains/snows/ices a lot, any day I'm away from home traveling.

ME DEMANDS!

God, I saw atomicdave's and also went for a song lyric. It turns The Smiths into... well, something very, very funny :) My favorite part is the part about "a girl frighten, who was toothed in Luxembourg male the inside."

Go to your favorite online translating took (I used Babelfish because Google was being bizarre), paste in a favorite text and translate from English to French, French to German, then back to English. Post the original and the mangled.

Collapse )

The end result: Demand

Shyness is nice, and
shyness can hold on you to make all things in the life
where you would like at

shyness are nicely, and
shyness can itself stop you to make all things in the life
where you would like

so, if there are somewhat you to try liked,
if it gives somewhat that you would like to try
ME DEMANDS that - I do not become LEGENDS "NOT" - LIKE it is only I daringly?

The up-frightened air is nice, and
which can itself stop up-frightened air you
to say all things in the life where you would like

so, if there are somewhat you to try liked,
if it gives somewhat that you would like to try
ME DEMANDS that - I do not become LEGENDS "NOT" - LIKE it is only I daringly?

Be called days summer spending,
which writes the worms,
which at a girl frighten,
who was toothed in Luxembourg male the inside,

DEMANDS I, DEMAND ME, DEMAND ME
DEMAND ME, DEMAND ME THAT ME DEMANDS,

since, if it is not love then,
it the bomb, the bomb, the bomb, the bomb, the bomb is, the bomb, the bomb,
which will meet us

nature is a language - can't you read?
Nature is a language - can't you read?

SO... REQUIRE I, DEMAND ME, DEMAND ME
DEMAND ME, DEMAND ME THAT ME DEMANDS,

since, if it is not love then, it the bomb,
which bomb, which bomb, which is bomb, the bomb, which bomb, which bomb,
which will meet us,

if it is not love then it is the bomb then, which is it the bomb,
which will meet us
IN SUCH A WAY... REQUIRE I, DEMAND ME, DEMAND ME
DEMAND ME, DEMAND ME THAT ME DEMAND THE OH...

Halloween Costume

Well, I've thought up what to be for Halloween, and I like the idea because I can integrate with my decorating as well!

I'm going to be Demeter / Ceres, goddess of agriculture, harvest, grains, etc. The costume will of course involve a sheet, plus corn husks, dried corn, possibly some gourds, and some creative makeup. (I think a pumpkin bra or a collard greens skirt would be fab too, but perhaps just too messy, he he.)

For decorations, I'm going to get some more pumpkins, since I can get them at cost at the market (that's a huge pumpkin for like $3), plus gourds, dried corn, maybe a cornucopia, fall leaves, etc.

It's not exactly spooky but I like that it celebrates fall, my favorite season, and involves food. Afterward I'm going to be making a lot of pumpkin soup I suspect.

Insurance Update

So this morning at the allergist I had to pay off the various bills that've accummulated over the past two months, with no insurance to cover them. It was expensive, but not as bad as I expected. Meanwhile they wanted me to sign up for a check-up with my doctor there, but I want to wait for insurance.

At work I got around to calling BCBS and checking on the status of my application. Somehow I navigated the voice menu better than usual, because I actually found the option for checking on the status of my application. Much quicker! And, good news, I was told there was a consent form or something on it's way to me, just sign it and I'd be golden.

So I check my mail and there it is, my letter from BCBS, saying "Congrats, we're giving you insurance" -- BUT it's got a whole waiver about how my premium will be $75-100 more than I expected because of my "history of tobacco use." WTF?! Friends, I have never smoked in my f'in LIFE. My lungs have been f'd up through pneumonia and allergies, but smoking, noooooooo.

I now must get my doctor to write a letter saying I've never smoked. Wheeeeeeeeeeee! Can this process be any more of a pain in the ass?

Party Mix Madness

Over the past year I've been using iTunes and have set up several libraries of music:

  • Chopin - um, pretty much a load of piano music, available free off a pianist's web site
  • Klaus Nomi - around 30 tunes from the master of ideosyncracy
  • Madelyn Music - big collection of goth & industrial courtesy of marchenland
  • Magnificent Void - an album by my fav dark ambient/med make, Steve Roach
  • Northside - 7-8 albums' worth of Scandinavian neo-folk put out by Northside Kristina brought down for me to burn

As a result of this odd combo, when I run "Party Mix" I get some really weird playlists. Right now:

"Disillusion" - Redemption
"The Nomi Song" - Klaus Nomi
"Sanat" - Varttina
"Three Wishes" - Klaus Nomi
"Skrautval" - Hednigarna
"Ding Dong" - Klaus Nomi
"Inside" - Endanger
"Nomi Chant" - Klaus Nomi
"Stranger" - Clan of Xymox
"Linnunmieli" - Varttina
"Muscovite Mosquito" - Clan of Xymox
"Etude in E Flat Major" - Donald Betts
"Icurok" - Klaus Nomi
"Vaiten Valvoin" - Varttina
"Tina Vieri" - Hednigarna
"Saglaten" - Hednigarna

The Scandinavian song titles and names are, BTW, much weirder looking than I've typed because I've left out all the dots and slashes and stuff. I looooooove Northside.
