Blockbusters of 2006

I noticed this on CNN:

Top Grossing Movies of 2006
1. "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," $423.3 million
2. "Cars," $244.1 million
3. "X-Men: The Last Stand," $234.4 million
4. "The Da Vinci Code," $217.5 million
5. "Superman Returns," $200.1 million
6. "Ice Age: The Meltdown," $195.3 million
7. "Happy Feet," $176.2 million
8. "Over the Hedge," $155.0 million
9. "Casino Royale," $153.4 million
10. "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby," $148.2 million

I haven't seen ANY of these, in the theater or otherwise, and the only one I actually WANT to see is the PotC and maybe the Bond flick or Ricky Bobby, if it was on TV or something. No desire to see animated movies with animal stars or superhero movies.

While my movie-watching is way up, the only movie I saw actually in a theater? Borat! And that was so f'in worth it. Another 2006 movie I saw, though not in a theater, was Little Miss Sunshine, which was hilarious.

Gaspar's Last Gasp

Gaspar, the friendliest and most outgoing of the beluga whales at the Georgia Aquarium, has died after a long illness. He and another whale were rescued from nasty living conditions in Mexico and it was hoped they would both see improved health. Gaspar was ill but entertained millions of visitors by hanging out in the window where everybody could see him. The other whales stayed further away. Finally he got so ill he was taken to a separate area of the tank where he could be monitored and receive medical attention. Poor Gaspar.

Nausea, Hearburn, INDIGESTION!

I have to say, this isn't the kind of commercial you can miss, but just in case...

Also, I can't think of any commercial which reminds me quite so much of Caleb, or at least something that would appeal to his tastes (kitschy ancient myth and monster movies and insanely catchy lyrics). (The movie equivalent being Gwendoline and the Lost, Lost Land of the YinYak with Tawny Kittaen, which we just watched. It was a childhood favorite of his and it shows.)
