Gumbo Time

Mmmm, it's starting to smell good. There's a pot of gumbo on the stove; right now the vegetables are stewing. Once that's done I can put in the two pounds of big shrimp I shelled this morning. I figured I might wind up being out this afternoon and I have a Mardi Gras party to be at tonight so I wanted to get most of the work done beforehand. I'll make the rice tonight.

A good side result of the gumbo? I bought way too much okra, totally misjudging what two cups chopped would be, so now I get to make okra and tomatoes, which I love. For the past couple of weeks I've been making all kinds of stews, chowders and soups, so this will just continue the trend.
