Friday Memes - Adaptations, Random & Weddings

Well, since versailles_rose has so helpfully compiled them...

From thefridayfive:

1. If you were going to remake a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
Interview with the Vampire. Johnny Depp as Louis and Sting as Lestat. (I liked versailles_rose's suggestion so much, I'm copying it!)

2. If you could turn a book into a movie, what would it be and who would you cast in the roles?
Wraeththu -- as an anime feature. Because no humans would really work in a live action.

3. If you were going to turn a video game into a movie, what would it be? Would it be animated or live-action?
Tetris: The Movie. Live action, like that Japanese game show. (OK, not really, but I don't really play videogames outside of puzzles and crosswords and brain-rotters like Tetris.)

4. You're going to turn a book into a TV series. What is it? Why would it make a good TV show?
Mary Renaults books, only more serious and less, um, Hercules- and Xena-like. It could be good!

5. Do you generally prefer the movie versions or the novel versions of works?
Novels. (Well, except LotR, which I'm dead sure I wouldn't want to read.)

And now from fridayfiver:

1. Have any road trips planned?
Not really, but maybe David will spontaneously want to go somewhere. I'd love to drive to either the mountains or the ocean. Where it's not hot.

2. What is out of your reach?
Fitting into half my wardrobe.

3. Are you more likely to watch a sunset or the sun rise?
Sunset. I would hate to be up for sunrise.

4. What night will you never forget?
There are many, but... the night Dee's grandma had a bit of a stroke while we were staying at the rental house in Salisbury -- and the grown-ups were out at the arcade.

5. What's the last thing that made you scream?
The 4D server just went down AGAIN. I *would* scream out loud, but I'm at work.

And from LJ's "Writer's Block": Wedding bells are ringing

What was the last wedding you went to? Were you in the wedding?

Unless I'm forgetting something, it probably was Marja & Elly's wedding at Schloss Drachenfels in Germany -- with Medieval costumes, a bagpiper, an hour-long horsedrawn carriage ride through the Seven Mountains, and an all-night bash at a Medieval pub/inn, during which I got totally trashed. There really wasn't a wedding party per se, but Caleb and I did stay with the bride & bride and some others at the inn that night.

Gitmo buzz

It's a sad testament when the Bush administration is looking at closing Gitmo not because of what it is, but because of how its existence is affecting its "image."

In another instance of what Caleb, Kristina and I used to call "The Atlanta Phenomenon," directly across from the site where I originally found Luckie, a new restaurant/cafe/has opening, serving two of our favorite things: fresh-made gelato and pastries. And? It's called

Of course, it *is* on Luckie Street, which is where Luckie got her name, but it's still too funny. For example, the huge sign on the building (see pic here) just makes me think, "OMG, my cat!"

Another funny thing? The part of the place that sells the gelato is called Charm. So it's actually Luckie - Charm. Which is different than my cat, who's Luckie Darling.

Caleb and Daniel went there tonight and rated the gelato highly. A new place -- close by!!!!! -- to go to for sweets, breakfast, etc. And... they sell T-shirts and bags with my cat's name on them!

The only thing that could make it better? Catnip ice cream.
