Lest anyone worry about my absence...

...some memage!

From thefridayfive
Imagine you are on your deathbed. Recommend to those who remain in your life...

1) One book to read.
The Age of Missing Information by Bill McKibben.

2) One movie to watch.
The Wizard of Oz. (Yes, there are more profound movies, but this is my favorite movie ever.)

3) One food to eat.
Really good black licorice. If you give it a chance, you *might* like it.

4) One place to go.
Central Park, NYC.

5) One life lesson to leave behind
Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.

And fridayfiver...

1. At the end of today, do you think you'll feel spent or refreshed?
Spent, for a while at least. Then I'll take a nap, wake up and realize it's the weekend. And I'll get all manic about some project or other and exhaust myself in time for Monday.

2. Do you like back rubs?
Yes. The rougher the better; I find pain very rejuvinating.

3. When did you last mislead someone?
Sometime today, I'm sure...

4. What color are your eyes?
Hazel... a sort of Army/pea green with gold centers. (I know that sounds made up, but it's true.)

5. Friday fill-in:
Lastly, let me know ___.

Your fly is open!

Rain!

Today it rained. And the temperature dropped by what seemed like 30 degrees but was probably only 10. In any case, considering that it's been over 90 for two weeks straight -- with a new record of 104 set on Tuesday -- it's a welcome change. The trees were starting to crinkle up and die and everybody I know was totally "over" the inferno. Now tomorrow it will probably be extra steamy as the heat returns and burns off the little rain we got tonight.

The sad thing? Predictors say that ven if it rained every day 'til January we'd still be in a severe drought. Georgia's harvest got creamed this year, by a late killer frost and then scorching drought.

Also sad? Elsewhere, there are major floods.
