Efficient Holiday Cooking

In about a half an hour, I just made:

1 vanilla pudding - banana - coconut pie
1 cranberry - apple - raisin pie
1 bowl of fresh-made cranberry sauce

One pie is setting in the fridge, the other one is baking. I have high hopes for the second one. I mostly just made it up out of my head, with some rough guidance from a recipe on Epicurious. It's a bag of frozen cranberries, pulverized, mixed with a couple of chopped MacIntosh apples, a couple handfuls of raisins, a half a cup of sugar, and a whole lot of cinnamon. It tasted great raw. I've put a cookie pan under the oven rack because I know it's going to spew everywhere. But I think it'll be yummy!

On a bit of a down note, Caleb and Daniel won't be coming to Thankgiving with me. Daniel had been persuaded into spending today's meal with his family and he in turn persuaded Caleb. I think this is the first time I've missed turkey with Caleb in 10 years. But when he asked if it was OK, it wasn't like I was going to say "No, I forbid you to have dinner with your boyfriend's family!" That'd be mean. Plus, it's not like I won't be with 20+ people at the annual Orphans Thanksgiving.
