Cat Love, Hate Hate

So with Caleb stranded in Mississippi overnight (drama!) I decided to let Sofie sleep over. She and Luckie actually did well cohabitating... last night. I even left the bedroom door open instead of separating them. That way I didn't have to move a litter box. They were just working things out on their own and everything was fine. I thought, "Well, that's a switch!"

Well, sometime during the night they started, I guess, duking it out about who gets to sleep with the human, because mostly it was Luckie, but then there'd be all this hissing and growling (which I was only half-awake for) and then Sofie would be there. And around 4 a.m. Sofie started her moaning, as in "Mrrrrrrrreow, let me go hoooooome!" (At Caleb's she does the same thing but it means "Let me go outside!") I did not sleep so well.

This morning, there is... antagonism. Major. So far today, in the 45 min. I've been up (Caleb woke me) there's been:

- Luckie hiding under the clothes rack in the bathroom
- Luckie giving me amazing 4-in. scratches (4 in parallel) on the arm
- Luckie projectile shedding (how do they do that?)
- Luckie *screaming* (not meowing, she actually *screamed*)
- Sofie moaning and moaning and moaning
- Sofie wanting to be petted, but then making growly Gremlin noises when I do so

The good news is, I've separated them now and given Luckie a plate of salmon Fancy Feast, which she is gulping down quite contentedly (mmm, mm, mmph), now that she's assured of some privacy and dominion. Sofie is moaning to get in here but, um, I think a time out is needed.

Um, OK...

From Atlants's daily paper:

State GOP chair: McCain 'kind of like Jesus

Published on: 05/17/08

Columbus — Georgia Republican Party chairwoman Sue Everhart said Saturday that the party's presumed presidential nominee has a lot in common with Jesus Christ.

"John McCain is kind of like Jesus Christ on the cross," Everhart said as she began the second day of the state GOP convention. "He never denounced God, either."

Everhart was praising McCain for never denouncing the United States while he was being tortured as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

"I'm not trying to compare John McCain to Jesus Christ, I'm looking at the pain that was there," she said.
