Rolling back the years...

Ganked from versailles_rose :)

What was the name of your first doll or Teddy Bear?
If a doll came with a name (like My Friend Becky or Baby Beth) they kept it, but otherwise I never named my dolls or stuffed animals. I'd just say "the bear," "the dog," etc.

What was your favorite toy?
The family TRS-80 personal computer. I would spend hours typing in and/or inventing BASIC programs, making shapes in LOGO, writing stuff in Scripsit, Radio Shack's word-processing program. This was in the early 80s.

What was your favorite Christmas/Hanukkah ?
1982, when my mom got the TRS-80 and my brother got a dog, Taffy. I ended up pretty much claiming both as my own. That year was also the last year my Oma was around. She gave me a music box shaped like an old-fashioned bakery, with a spinning ballerina inside. I still have it, set up on a windowsill in my bedroom.

What was your favorite vacation?
We always went wilderness canoe camping every August and I loved every ONE of these trips, would look forward to them all year. For many years we'd go to the Adirondacks in upstate New York, but starting when I was in 6th grade, Mom and Dad started getting more exotic. We went up to Ontario numerous times and also northern Minnesota. The stand-out, however, was the time we flew out to Calgary and spent three weeks camping (the wussy-way, at campgrounds, alas) in the Rockies. That was the longest vacation we ever had. Also the first time I was on the plane.

Did you go to camp and did you enjoy it?
I never went to "camp" but we did *real* camping every year, both for long trips and weekend trips, and I always loved it. Those are really some of my best memories from my childhood and also the reason I get along so well with my parents.

Did you have a secret hiding place where you like to play?
The closet in my bedroom had this rather bizarre cubbyhole set up in the wall. It was about 4 ft. deep, 4 ft. wide, 6 ft. high, with a finished floor and walls. I set it up with pillows, draperies, posters, secret papers and its own light.

So Hot

Luckie Moment

Luckie is looking so peaceful at the moment. She's stretched out on the windowsill here in the office. She's flat on her stomach with one front leg tucked under, the other stretched out in front of her and her head cocked, resting on the leg. The blind is almost all the way down but the little bit of window left uncovered is casting light up behind her and highlighting her fur. I know the second I get up to cook dinner she will wake up and run away, but for now, awwwww.
