video, dick in a box

There are plenty of times I miss being Downtown during the day and this is one of them. There was a ZEBRA running around!

It was first spotted like a block from me. It was a circus escapee -- yes, it's in town! -- and man, it seriously did not let itself get caught. It ran up to Centennial Park, by the Georgia Aquarium, ran around Five Points, ran around the federal complex, and eventually got on the Downtown Connector (I-75/85)! By that point it was being pursued by a load of cop cars, leaving traffic chaos in its wake. Finally they were able to recapture it. (Its name is Lima, BTW.) Yikes!

Meanwhile this was a chance for our city's seriously beleagured newspaper, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, to do some old-fashioned reporting. And -good thing- they haven't yet moved their offices out to Gwinnett Co. as they're planning, since the zebra was first spotted in the AJC parking lot! LOL. Anyway, here is their story:

What was also fun about this is that it hit Twitter and there wer eyewitness reports and pics coming in through Twitter. So you know, sign that we will be prepared when that random alien lands in Downtown. I just hope I'm working at home that day!
